  • The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for AstraZeneca Saudi Arabia is a key member of the Country Leadership Team and Middle East and Africa Finance Leadership Team and serves as a strategic partner to the Country President and MEA Area CFO. The CFO provides financial stewardship and guidance to drive sustainable business growth, safeguard company assets, and ensure full compliance with local and global financial policies and regulations. The role oversees all financial operations, including planning and analysis, budgeting, financial reporting, tax, treasury, internal controls, procurement, and risk management, while delivering commercial insight and challenge to support AstraZeneca’s strategy and operational excellence.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development and execution of the financial strategy for AstraZeneca Saudi Arabia in line with global objectives and local market priorities.
  • Lead financial planning cycles (RBU, LTP, MTP, TA Strategy, & LBE) processes including: global market/regional guidance coordination, performance targets and incentives, ROI analysis, presentation development & delivery to senior stakeholders, and short and long term financial strategy.
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, statutory and management reporting.
  • Act as a business partner to the Country President and Leadership Team, providing financial insights and challenge to support and deliver key commercial decisions, strategic investments, resource allocation and optimisation, localisation and business development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international accounting standards, tax regulations, and AstraZeneca’s governance requirements.
  • Manage treasury, cash flow, and working capital to optimize financial flexibility and mitigate risks.
  • Oversees the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities ensuring for the correct and timely internal and external reporting for Tax, Balance Sheet and P&L.
  • Lead locally the procurement function and champion best-in-class cost management, supplier relationships, and spending optimization.
  • Maintain an effective internal control environment, ensuring robust risk management processes to protect company assets and support audit requirements. Establish and maintain appropriate internal control processes in the frame of the company’s Financial Control Framework
  • Coordinate with the regional/global finance network to ensure alignment, information sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Play an active role in business transformation, digital finance initiatives, and the adoption of new technologies and processes.
  • Ensures lean and effective operations of the activities under his/her control. Drives an agenda of continuous improvement and simplification for the Finance function, works in partnership with GFS, aligned with the global finance transformation agenda
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain high-performing finance teams; foster a culture of ethics, accountability, and high performance.
  • Represent AstraZeneca to external stakeholders, including auditors, banking partners, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.

Essential for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent advanced qualification is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance roles, with at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership position—preferably within a multinational and/or pharmaceutical organization with diversified roles and geographical experience
  • Deep understanding of Saudi IFRS, local regulatory environment, local tax regulations, and applicable financial laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience with financial planning and analysis, risk management, internal controls, budgeting, procurement, and business partnership.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to provide critical financial insights at a strategic level.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and draw conclusions from less than certain data.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to optimally work with cross-functional teams and experienced stakeholder management in a matrix organization (IFS, GFO, CP & SLT…etc)
  • Analytical thinking - logically breaking problems down into their essential elements: carrying out diagnosis and development solutions
  • Flexibility - ability to alter behaviour and opinions in the light of new information or changing situations.

Desirable for the role

  • Experience in Saudi Arabia or Middle East countries is strongly preferred
  • Arabic knowledge is an asset
